Phase 1 — White Daisy
Gather the four white edges around the yellow centre.
The Daisy is a temporary preparation pattern: the four white edge stickers face up around the yellow centre. It is not a solved layer — it simply puts every white edge in one known place so the cross can be built reliably.
- 2
Phase 2 — White Cross
Move the white edges down to form a cross on the white face.
Each Daisy edge is lined up with the centre of its own colour and turned down to the white face. A correct cross has the white stickers down AND each edge's side colour matching the centre next to it.

Phase 3 — White Corners
Insert the four white corners to finish the first layer.
Each white corner is lifted into the top layer, positioned above the slot it belongs to, and inserted without breaking the cross. When all four are in, the whole white layer — and the first band of every side — is solved.
- 4
Phase 4 — Middle Layer
Insert the four middle edges to complete the first two layers.
The remaining non-yellow edges are taken from the top layer and inserted left or right into the middle band. The finished white layer is never disturbed at the end of a step.
- 5
Phase 5 — Yellow Cross
Turn the four top edges so their yellow stickers face up.
One short sequence, applied from different angles, walks the top edges through the dot, L and line patterns until all four yellow stickers face up. This is only about orientation — the edges are positioned in the final phase.
- 6
Phase 6 — Yellow Face
Turn the top corners so the whole top face is yellow.
Corner-turning sequences (the Sune family) twist the top corners in place while the first two layers and the yellow cross stay intact, until the entire upper face is yellow.
- 7
Phase 7 — Yellow Corner Positioning
Move each yellow corner to its correct corner position.
The corners are cycled into their home positions without losing the yellow face. After this phase every corner of the cube is exactly where it belongs.
- 8
Phase 8 — Yellow Edge Positioning
Cycle the last edges into place and solve the cube.
The final sequences cycle three top edges at a time (or swap two pairs) while everything else stays solved. When the last edge lands, the cube is complete.
Before you start
- • Hold your cube any way you like while entering it — afterwards the Academy asks you to hold it with the yellow centre on top and the white centre at the bottom for the whole lesson.
- • Cubes with a non-standard colour arrangement (different opposite colour pairs) cannot be taught with this method yet — the Academy will tell you clearly instead of guessing.
- • Two ways to learn: Solve With Me shows every move, or switch to Learn & Practice and try first with layered hints.
